After a wealthy older woman ( ) is murdered by her husband, he is quickly dispatched by an unknown villain who removes the first killer’s body and leaves Miranda’s death looking like a suicide. is gorgeous as the murder victim’s stepdaughter who shows up wanting to know what happened to her father, she and her husband stepping into a killing spree that centres around a real estate deal in the gorgeous bay they all live on. Mario Bava stated that this was his favourite of all his films, and it’s certainly one of his juiciest and most exciting, setting the slasher genre in motion with a series of efficiently executed murders and some very fun characterizations. Within less than 90 minutes Bava manages quite the body count while maintaining his stunning visual style, eliciting performances that are all credible and an ending that never stops twisting.
