A bland update of Twister combined with the found-footage genre, which at this point has well overstayed its welcome, and with surprisingly little advancement in the visual effects technology of representing tornado storms. A small midwestern town is besieged by twisters and it’s good news for a storm-chasing documentary crew, outfitted as they are with impressive equipment that they hope will allow them to film a tornado from within its eye. The storms are less of a gift for the local high school’s vice principle () who is having difficulty getting through to his teenage sons in the aftermath of his wife’s death. There are great moments of scary destruction, but how a movie this loud can be so boring is a much more inexplicable phenomenon than any of the disasters that befall its cardboard characters.
