Secret Service Agent Nicolas Cage is given his worst nightmare of an assignment when he is instructed to keep a close eye on a former president’s wife (Shirley MacLaine) who is involved in an important upcoming function. It seems boring enough considering that she isn’t exactly anyone’s idea of a hot political target, and to boot she’s the hardest nut of a stubborn woman he has ever come across in the line of duty. Trouble arises, though, and soon he is protecting her from a few guys who might not have her best interests at heart. A little suspense and a few laughs involved thanks to some good chemistry between the two leads.
Golden Globe Award Nomination: Best Actress-Musical/Comedy (Shirley MacLaine)
