Startling, unique science-fiction film has a terrific story and excellent direction by Vincent Ward. A community in fourteenth-century Scotland is the only village in the country to have been spared the ravages of the Black Plague thus far. Fearing that it is on its way to them as well, the villagers decide to follow a young boy’s mystical dream and build a tunnel that will take them to the other side of the world where they will be safe. A preliminary party is sent to test the safety of the journey, and surprisingly, the tunnel takes them to present day New Zealand. You never know where this terrific adventure will take you, it’s a great thrill.
