Following his last adventure (in 1967, this kid doesn’t age!), Mowgli (now voiced by Haley Joel Osment) feels awkward and out of place in the human village he lives in. The call of the wild comes to him and he reteams with Baloo (John Goodman) for some more jungle adventures, not realizing that he has left the village vulnerable to attacks from Shere Khan, the evil tiger who wants a little payback for the last time they met. The film is a mere trifle that will thrill the young and amuse the grownups, a harmless bit of entertainment that is colourful and sweet and expertly performed by all the voice actors. The highlight is a fantastic song score, the centerpiece of which is an excellent toe-tapper called ‘Jungle Rhythm’ that you will be humming long after the movie is over. Other voices include Phil Collins, John Rhys-Davies and Mae Whitman.
