A young family are on their way to a last-minute getaway vacation when their car veers off the road and their lives are put into complete reversal. We catch up with Santiago, the male head of the household, sometime later, working a grunt job at a remote airport in cold Patagonia.
Pablo Trapero’s film goes from a spritely opening to a slow, drawn-out middle filled with desolate images of a barren landscape, all of which combine for a richly emotional experience that leaps right off the screen.
Guillermo Pfening is fantastic as Santiago, his pain constantly felt by the audience throughout, and the supporting characters are all memorable. A beautifully heartfelt film.
