A deadly virus is the evil villain in this terrifying thriller adapted from the novel by Michael Crichton. After an American satellite falls to Earth in the middle of the desert, it brings back with it an alien disease from outer space that scientists must work around the clock to identify. The film follows every fascinating step of the process, utilizing intelligent dialogue and character development in place of crafty gadgets, thereby making the outdated technology acceptable for the modern viewer. Excellent acting and terrific editing are definitely a plus in this film by proven science-fiction master Robert Wise.
