USA, 1963. Walt Disney Productions. Story by Bill Peet, based on the book by T.H. White. Produced by Walt Disney. Music by George Bruns. Production Design by Ken Anderson. Film Editing by Donald Halliday.
Animated adventure that tells the Disneyfied version of the legend of King Arthur, concentrating mostly on his boyhood life as a squire and his tutelage under the magical guidance of the wizard Merlin, before the mythical moment when he removes the sword Excalibur from the stone that houses it. It concerns itself more in having a good time than actually paying tribute to any real folklore, so don’t expect anything that someone over the age of ten can really appreciate, but it is colourful and fun.
