gives a charming performance as a suburban high-schooler who has recently been promoted to the captain of the school’s cheerleading squad. Working towards winning a national championship, she finds out that her predecessor was stealing the group’s moves from a highly superior big-city high school team. Dunst has to build the team back up from scratch, something difficult considering both how lowly cheerleading is regarded at her school (not to mention the actual football team they cheer, which hasn’t won a game in what seems like a century), and just how the angry the opposing team when they find out that their moves have been copped. Great musical numbers and a good time to be had by all.
