Former airline pilot is most famous in his home country of Argentina for having been the whistle blower who alerted his country (and eventually the world) to the faulty practices of his employing airline, LAPA. For months he grounded planes, delayed flights and wrote countless memos letting his bosses know that the planes he was flying were unsafe, faulty and, in some cases, in serious danger of crashing. His airline, suffering financial burdens and in desperate need of good public relations, slapped him with suspensions and even psychological evaluations in an effort to shut him up, but to no avail. When a plane did crash during takeoff some time after Pineyro’s resignation, killing 67 people and badly burning many others, his personal trials were vindicated but with sad results. Pineyro’s career eventually turned to acting and directing, and here he plays himself in a dramatic recreation of his experiences with the airline and the personal struggle he underwent to get his story out to the world. The script is blessed with excellent dialogue and realistic characters, but the plot (which should have been effortlessly fascinating) is hackneyed and sometimes feels like it has no idea where to go next.
