This charmer tells the tale of two Portuguese-American sisters and their best friend living in Massachusetts and working in a local pizza parlor: Lili Taylor has left Vincent D’Onofrio at the altar, but still loves him despite her fear of commitment; Annabeth Gish becomes attached to a handsome architect whose children she is babysitting for the summer before she goes to college; Julia Roberts is dating an Ivy League boy who sees dating a working class girl as a way to rebel against his snooty family. These three girls spend a summer enduring growing pains, and their experiences are charming and told with character and not cliché. Lots to enjoy, and look for a very young Matt Damon in a tiny walk-on role.
