Love Me Not? (M’Agapas?)

(out of 5)

Silly sex comedy that tries for a little poignancy with its vignette-style plot and postcard-pretty photography but is really just an excuse for lots of sex and nudity. An old man falls off a wall while watching a woman sunbathe topless, and en route to the hospital flashes back to the many zany encounters he’s had with women throughout his life, which have led to his present condition. What happens afterwards is a surprise, humorously wry but still not quite strong enough to overcome a plot that has been somewhat confusing up until that point and really seems to exist merely as an opportunity for scandalous imagery. Some of the moments are fun, though (the first memory of the main character’s childhood being especially potent), and at least the sex stuff is actually sexy.
