Three characters and their intertwining destinies are examined in this far too mellow film.  is excellent as a nurse who administers to a prizefighter who takes on illegal fights for cash. LeBlanc is suffering from a chronic illness, her persistent worry juxtaposed against the relentless optimism of her son who creates music in an effort to heal her. Charles Officer’s visuals are intoxicating throughout this poetic tone poem, but the drama lacks urgency of any kind and sitting through it is quite a chore. A shame, given that its murky photography of night time in Toronto is so lovely and the performers are all so good.
