Forgettable adventure in the Godzilla series is just another entry that has been released for North American audiences in order to cash in on the success of the Roland Emmerich Hollywood version. Godzilla thwarts an alien from outer space in an effort to save a world that doesn’t even want him. The effects are appropriately cheap, the screaming, running Japanese extras plentiful. At the center is a hilariously emotional story about a father and daughter who are brought closer by their plight to study the giant lizard and keep him from being killed by less curious, non-scientifically minded army people. It’s not fun enough to be great B-movie entertainment, but some might enjoy the cheesefest.
