This film doesn’t deserve to be as funny as it is, but with Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn in the leads, how can you go wrong? Martin plays a jilted lover whose fiancee (Dana Delany) turned down his proposal of marriage after he purchased them a brand new home. Spilling the story to a cocktail waittress (Hawn) in his misery, he ends up with this dizzy blonde on his plate when she decides to move in as a houseguest and take over completely. The situational comedy aspect is totally forgettable, but these two comic geniuses manage to make hilarious sparks fly (they did it again in the so-so Out-Of-Towners seven years later).
