Forgettable cop comedy about a bumbling criminal (Martin Lawrence) who is arrested during a jewel heist after managing to successfully hide a precious jewel in a hiding spot in the building. Years later, he is released from jail and the building he hid the jewel in turns out to be the new Los Angeles Police Department headquarters. Now he has to impersonate a police officer to infiltrate the building and get his loot. Teamed up with a boring, straight-laced white cop (what else is new), Lawrence ends up being a pretty good police officer and makes a new friend, all while performing his usual idiotic antics, screeching character voices and delivering somewhat funny lines. Luke Wilson is sweet as the partner, but he’s had better opportunities in even more thankless roles.
