Dead Poets Society goes to the army when Danny DeVito loses his position at a swanky advertising firm and is forced to take a job teaching English at an army base. There he woos his students towards a love of literature by getting them excited about Shakespeare, but Penny Marshall’s incredibly inane sense of pace kills every single bit of potential in every single scene. Following its dismal box-office reception, the film was re-released under the titles Army Intelligence and By The Book in select cities, but still failed to find a favourable audience.
