Wonderful documentary that captures both the fascinating personality and the superb work of the greatest filmmaker of all time, Luis Bunuel. Touching on aspects of his personal life, we enjoy glimpses into his early forays in filmmaking that led to such milestone classics as Viridiana, Belle De Jour and The Exterminating Angel. The file footage is wonderful, but what really makes the film rich are the many interviews with friends and associates (including the lovely Silvia Pinal, Stéphane Audran as well as personal friends of Bunuel’s and family members) who relate stories that give insight into what drove him both personally and artistically. Fans of the director will be in heaven, while those who are only just getting to know Bunuel’s work will learn quite a bit.
