USA, 1998. Polygram Filmed Entertainment, Propaganda Films, Fleece. Screenplay by Neil LaBute. Cinematography by Nancy Schreiber. Produced by Steve Golin, Jason Patric. Music by Frankie Pine. Production Design by Charles William Breen. Costume Design by April Napier. Film Editing by Joel Plotch.
Aggravating bore about a grab-bag of characters who spend two hours whining endlessly about their lives and then never do anything useful about it. Jason Patric stands out in a terrific performance as a vicious womanizer who turns out to be a lot more complex than at first seems clear, but everyone else in this afflicted film is too selfish and uncaring to keep your attention (Ben Stiller is a particularly good example of this). Fans of Catherine Keener might want to take a peek, but otherwise it’s a waste of time.
