finds out from his doctor that he is in need of a heart transplant or he will die, causing him to reach out for support to his sister () with whom he has not been close in years.  is a history professor who is asked to host a television special on the history of Paris and is interrupted by the aftermath of his elderly father’s death and his own burgeoning obsession with a beautiful student (). These and other stories play out against the backdrop of the gorgeous City Of Lights, a city that always looks wonderful on screen and, in this cinematic work of art by Cedric Klapisch, is at its zenith. The story covers love, death, art, happiness, misery and family without any of them ever seeming like desperate ploys for our affection. The stories and characters interact naturally on all levels and the performances are pristine.
