Dolly Parton brings her naturally fresh and fun personality to this unoriginal romantic comedy. She plays an out-of-work small town gal who decides to leave her boyfriend and head for the big city of Chicago. After she accidentally stumbles into a stint taking over as a love doctor on a radio program, she finds she’s a big hit on the air waves and is hired to continue her work. James Woods is excellent in a rare non-psycho role as the reporter who is assigned to investigate her true origins. The ending is pretty typical, but Parton’s presence is so enjoyable that you won’t mind the cliches one single bit.
