When thirtysomething news reporter Rachel Griffiths celebrates her birthday alone once again, she begins to remember her younger days when she had the chance to marry the man of her dreams. Her What Ifs become reality when she magically switches places with a different, married version of herself and is now the mother of three kids and wife to the man she gave up thirteen years ago. Naturally, in her mind she’s still the same single gal, so acclimating herself to this new lifestyle is quite funny to watch. Not all of the plot’s tricks work smoothly, but thanks to Griffiths’ star quality and ability to carry the film alone it is definitely entertainment to behold. The film was directed by Australian film editor Pip Karmel, who was nominated for an Academy Award for her work on Scott Hicks’ Shine.
