And so the great trilogy ends. Musashi Miyamoto has become disillusioned with life as a master swordsman, as it brings him nothing but sorrow for being a murderer. He sets up shop as a farmer with his two travelling companions, soon joined by the innocent girl who has loved him for years. Trouble isn’t far behind though, as his nemesis Kojiro and his girlfriend’s rival are determined to find him. Kojiro has made it his destiny to fight Musashi, and so they do in the film’s great final battle on Ganryu Island. Inagaki’s beautiful photography, breathtaking pace and excellent dialogue never flag for a moment throughout all three films, and this one is the perfect ending for a very exciting story.
