Carnival Of Souls

Bil’s rating (out of 5):  BBBBB.

Made on a shoestring budget in Lawrence, Kansas, this terrifying film shows how much you can do with so little.   is deliciously campy as the sole survivor of a car crash who emerges from the scene of the accident without a single injury on her. She decides to leave her life in the tiny town behind and finds a job playing a church organ in a nearby hamlet. There she encounters a nosy landlady and an overly eager potential boyfriend, all the while she is constantly being hounded by a ghastly vision of a terrifying madman () who keeps appearing everywhere she goes. Despite its obvious low-budget origins, this film is unforgettably creepy, and the more it revels in its cheesiness the more fun you’ll have being scared by it.
