One of Alan Parker’s most enjoyable films is this fantastic musical about a fictional British band. Robert Arkins plays a keen Irish lad who graduates school and looks about for the next step in his career. He gathers his musician friends, three girls with great voices and, before he knows it, soul music has hit Dublin. The film’s fantastic soundtrack is its best asset, though the excellent screenplay and spirited performances aren’t to be ignored either.
