A young Jewish girl returns home to Spain and brings her Palestinian fiancé to meet her family. His fears that they won’t accept him become impressively heightened when a minor kitchen mishap results in a terrifying accident that threatens not only his welcome into the family but his relationship with his beloved. The conundrum these two find themselves in results in a dizzy farce of madcap chases and slamming doors, a silly indulgence in a highly worn-out formula but an enjoyable one all the same. Argentinean actress Norma Aleandro is magnificent as the matriarch of the kooky clan, while Guillermo Toledo is wonderful as the hapless hero.
