Touching family drama about the young man of the title (an excellently subdued Johnny Depp) growing up in his strange family in a strange small town. His mentally challenged younger brother (Leonardo DiCaprio) can’t stop getting into trouble, while his incredibly overweight mother (Darlene Cates) has become so reclusive as to never leave the house under any circumstances. A free-spirited young woman (Juliette Lewis) arrives and gives him a break from his mundane existence in this memorable small-town drama.
