Bil’s rating (out of 5): BBB.5.
USA, 1950. Walt Disney Productions. Story by Bill Peet, Erdman Penner, Ted Sears, Winston Hibler, Homer Brightman, Harry Reeves, Ken Anderson, Joe Rinaldi, based on the story by Charles Perrault. Produced by Walt Disney. Music by Paul J. Smith, Oliver Wallace. Film Editing by Donald Halliday.
Walt Disney’s adaptation of the ever-popular Charles Perreault fairy tale is about as beautifully animated as any of his films ever got, though a bit duller than superior work like Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs. The story about the young girl forced to wear rags and do all the cooking and cleaning for her evil stepmother and stepsisters before finding her true prince is still a humdinger of good, classic revenge if ever there was one (though that revenge is hardly realized here).
