Beware Of A Holy Whore (Warnung Vor Einer Heiligen Nutte)

BBB

(out of 5)

Arch, highly stylized fishbowl look into the world of film production. A cast and crew await orders in a posh Spanish resort hotel until their bad-tempered director (, or Brando Lite) shows up and takes them from catatonic to actively miserable with his fits and moods. Everyone swaps partners of either gender on a regular basis, but typical to Fassbinder’s subtle style of humour, there’s lots of coupling without any actual sexual feeling involved. Like many of the films the prolific filmmaker made, it’s interesting more as an experiment, but it has more to offer than something similar like The Bitter Tears Of Petra Von Kant. Cast members are all excellent, with the stunning standing out as per usual.
