Pleasant and at times funny account of three widows (Olympia Dukakis, Ellen Burstyn, Diane Ladd) whose main social connection is at their husbands’ graves. It has funny moments, some sad, none of them difficult to figure out ahead of time. The film is mainly aimed at the Fried Green Tomatoes crowd, but doesn’t feature that wonderful film’s sense of rich storytelling or genuine emotion. Still, Burstyn is wonderful, Dukakis funny and Ladd zesty.
