Wonderfully enjoyable fantasy film is also a great treat for fans of either or . They play storybook lovers who were magically cursed by a jealous Bishop () to never be together in human form. While Hauer travels by day, she is transformed into an hawk who stays constantly by his side, and when she returns to human form at night, he is turned into an equally devoted wolf. Escaped convict meets up with them and helps them re-enter a heavily guarded city in order to kill the evil Bishop and have them be restored once again to their love affair. The whole adventure is a wonderful ride for the audience, and while the cheesy musical score has not survived past the eighties very well, this is an ageless classic.
