Bil’s rating (out of 5): BB.5.
There’s Greek melodrama to the Nth degree when Zoe Laskari finds out that her mother (who looks about three years older than her) is schtupping their sexy chauffeur (Alekos Alexandrakis). The news causes devastation to the girl’s father, prompting our young heroine to take revenge upon her mother for her adulterous acts. The film really revels in its soap opera atmosphere, playing its ridiculous class-consciousness to the hilt (rich people are inherently corrupt), but its stylish atmosphere saves it from being miserable. 1960s Athens looks gorgeous, and the performances by some of Greece’s legendary superstars are incredibly good.
