Wonderful glimpse into the world of Broadway that takes you backstage during the production run of Moon Over Buffalo starring Carol Burnett and Philip Bosco. Chris Hegedus and D.A. Pennebaker, who formerly shared the Monterey Pop festival with the world, show you read-throughs, rehearsals and performances as we watch these terrific performers make a hit out of fluffy entertainment. Burnett is especially watchable this many years after her terrific television series and movie career, handling an entire theatre with marvelous ease on the night that her stage curtain has a mechanical fault that prevents it from rising. Watching her make sure the crowd gets their money’s worth with personal anecdotes is just a glimpse of this awe-inspiring professional at work. The film is a memorable tribute to the grease-painted world of people who dance before the footlights.
