Bil’s rating (out of 5): BB.5. USA, 1993. Warner Bros., Malpaso Productions. Screenplay by John Lee Hancock. Cinematography by Jack N. Green. Produced by Clint Eastwood, Mark Johnson, David Valdes. Music by Lennie Niehaus. Production Design by Henry Bumstead. Costume Design by Erica Edell Phillips. Film Editing by Joel Cox, Ron Spang.
Clint Eastwood directs and stars as a sheriff who is on the tail of an escaped murderer (Kevin Costner) after he has kidnapped a little boy and taken him on a crime spree across the country. Not one scene in this entire film is as short as it should be, some of the more intense ones reaching the point of ridiculous overindulgence. As cop thrillers go, it’s one of the least interesting to watch, and as far as Eastwood’s work as a director goes it’s among his weakest.
