Quest For Fire definitely ruined any chances this hilarious film ever had of lasting as a weighty recreation of primitive civilization, but the iconography of Raquel Welch in her fur bikini is forever. John Richardson plays a cave man separated from his tribe who comes upon a more advanced society (they’ve got blond hair and better fashions) who try their best to get rid of him. When one of their women (Welch) takes a shine to him, they are expelled together to survive the harsh wilderness. Great visual effects and a half-serious, half-fun attempt to stay true to scientific detail are pluses, not to mention Welch’s staggering beauty and confidence.
