A young Sicilian boy witnesses his mob family get massacred by a rival clan and barely escapes with the assassins hot on his trail. He makes his way to the big city of Rome in the hopes of finding relatives, but you’re never sure if he is able to trust the people who protect him. This violent drama’s more grittier moments constantly seem at odds with the director’s insistence at showing lyrical and languid images to highlight the action, but it is satisfying and well-acted. Francesca Neri appears in a brief supporting role as the mother of a kidnapping victim.
