The cultural divide between English and French Canada is bridged when a murder victim is found on the Quebec-Ontario border and the two detectives assigned to the case are an OPP officer (Colm Feore) and a top homicide investigator from Montreal (Patrick Huard). It seems that a serial killer is targeting high ranking members of the hockey industry who the murderer feels are ruining the game held so dear in the hearts of Canadians, and it’s up to our heroes to stop him before he takes another victim. They will manage it if they can stop squabbling about politics long enough to actually work productively on the case. This wonderful combination of thrilling action, mystery and genuinely funny comedy is a satisfying treat, intelligent and intense and perfectly balanced by a witty, complicated script and even direction. The two leads are thoroughly amiable, the dialogue is solid and every twist that the plot turns takes you further into a familiar but somehow fresh take on the traditional buddy-cop genre.
