Warren Beatty plays an employee in a German bank who discovers that a bunch of criminals are using safe deposit boxes to store the vast amounts of money that they’ve been stealing. He teams up with a prostitute (Goldie Hawn) who has had all the bad guys as clients, and the two of them devise a plan to make off with the stolen money. When the villains get wind of this, they find themselves unable to report it to the police but are perfectly capable of going after the couple themselves. This excellent comedy does the best job of mixing humour and suspense since Charade, with marvelous performances by the two leads and terrific direction by Richard Brooks.
