At times fun, at times frustrating comedy by Danny Boyle about two seriously disturbed angels (Holly Hunter, Delroy Lindo) who are sent down to earth to oversee the romance between a disgruntled employee (Ewan McGregor) and the rich boss’s daughter (Cameron Diaz) whom he has kidnapped. Diaz’s strength of character keeps the film in perpetual motion, as do the small bits of hilarity provided by the celestial members of the cast, but the film’s story is just so inexcusably ridiculous that it comes off as lame more than whimsical.
