My Old Addiction

Michael Clayton

BBBB.5

(out of 5)

George Clooney gives a masterful performance as a dirt-busting lawyer who is asked to reign in a top member of his firm’s legal council () who has been embarrassing the organization. While working on defending a multibillion dollar agricultural corporation from an ecological scandal, Wilkinson has been overwhelmed by his clinical depression and emotionally has switched sides in his sympathies. Clooney’s efforts to keep his friend under control complicate his own personal conflicts, including a mountainous pile of debts and an estranged relationship with his son, and lead him to discover information that could endanger his life. Marvelous pacing and exceptional writing make for a film that, while familiar in theme, is never less than thrilling.   co-stars, brilliantly, as the head of the corporation on trial, and  stars as Clooney’s big boss.
