The origins of the legendary Genghis Khan are dramatized beautifully in this thrilling epic by Sergey Bodrov. Born in 12th century Siberia and suffering the loss of his father at a young age, Temudjin goes from prince of his clan to wandering nomad before being saved by a new friend and now adoptive brother Jamukha. By the time he is an adult and married to Borte, things have come between Temudjin and Jamukha that lead to full-scale war between clans, battles which take our hero on to his glorious power, eternal name, and ruthless reputation. Bodrov has created an unforgettable spectacle, one that has been challenged on historical detail but, when taken as a poetically-licensed examination of the origins of power, is a wholly palatable adventure. The scenery is breathtaking.
