Nicolas Cage plays a gold-hearted cop who comes up short of a tip for a Manhattan waitress (Bridget Fonda), promising instead to split the spoils of his lottery ticket with her the next day should it possibly come up a winner. She blows the experience off as another bad part of a bad day until the next day when he comes back and tells her that they get to split four million dollars between the two of them. Unfortunately, they have Cage’s greedy wife (Rosie Perez) to deal with, in a film whose sentimentality and satisfying ending will trump all the bad stuff and make it a worthwhile watch.
