Heather Matarazzo is superb in this unforgettable exploration of depiction of growing pains in the ‘normal’ world of American suburbia. She plays an awkward adolescent growing up in a mean world of strict parents and school bullies, taking the negativity she is given by her family and friends and doing her best not to let it implode in on her. Perfectly written, directed and so delicately performed, this is one movie you won’t ever forget.
