Sandra Bullock hits a very low note after such successes like The Net and While You Were Sleeping with this unfunny, uneven romantic comedy. She plays the girlfriend of an art thief (Denis Leary, who co-wrote the screenplay) who must hide out with him in a rural cottage while they’re waiting for his latest acquisition to find a buyer. In the meantime she finds herself being wooed by the local good guy who has no idea with whom he’s messing around. Bullock tries for a semi-Brooklyn accent that never really takes off, and she has absolutely no chemistry with Leary.
