Nicole Kidman and Bill Pullman play a happy couple whose lives are destroyed when a surgeon (Alec Baldwin) performs an operation on her under the influence of alcohol and destroys her reproductive system. This launches an intense malpractice lawsuit, but during the proceedings Pullman starts to get the impression that not everything is what it seems with his unfairly maligned wife. Bebe Neuwirth has a terrific supporting role in this thriller, one chock full of surprise twists that are just too ridiculous to be believed. It also features Kidman saying some of her worst dialogue in her career, including the part where she rips into her male co-star’s affections and screams out “Take me upstairs and fuck me!” (will that be written on the movie tie-in lunchbox, I wonder?)
