Original title:  Nemye Svideteli

Russia, 1914.  Screenplay by .  Produced by .  Music by .  Production Design by Yevgeni Bauer.

Early Russian feature film tells the tale of Nastya, a young woman who takes a maid’s place in a wealthy household to allow her friend, who formerly held the position, to go home and be with her family. While there, Nastya becomes involved in the personal life of the son of the household, whose openly flirty fiancee is possibly having an affair with a baron. This complicates things for our heroine, who has some deep feelings of her own for the aristocrat with eight hands. Surprisingly effective for a primitive production, made very early in the years of feature film, but quite involving and featuring dedicated performances. One of the many films that were censored following the Bolshevik revolution a few years later.
