Stunning drama by Claude Sautet that, along with his masterpiece Nelly Et Monsieur Arnaud, make for two of the best French films of the decade. Daniel Auteuil plays a musician who has a muted, unsatisfying romance with a cellist (Emmanuelle Béart). Performances are letter-perfect in this marvelously understated film that is filled out by the music of Ravel.
