The Anniversary

(out of 5)

has so much fun chewing the scenery in this hilariously campy melodrama that she even seems to be chewing up all the actors too. She plays the matriarch of a family of very insecure sons who rules over her charges with fierce control. When one of her boys comes home with a new bride, she decides to take the girl for a spin around her vindictive personality in order to scare her off. This time, however, it might be possible that cruel Davis has met her match, and the stage is set for a battle of wills. Though totally laughable, the film is involving and entertaining, especially for fans of the great movie queen.
