The promise of great comedy that is seen in the first half of this film fizzles out when you get to the extremely lame ending. However, its premise, that of an All-American cheerleader who gets sent to a homo-rehabilitation camp because her parents are worried about the Melissa Etheridge posters on her wall, is a really funny one, and Natasha Lyonne‘s performance keeps everything afloat. RuPaul is terrific as one of the “ex-gays” running the camp, and Cathy Moriarty is nothing short of terrifying as the resort’s pink-wearing leader (an “ex-gay” herself).
