Mockumentary that presents the world of children’s competitive dance using Drop Dead Gorgeous and the films of Christopher Guest as its template.   is a scream as Mr. Jonathon, the leader of an avant-garde troupe of young ladies whose ensemble uses the dance floor as an opportunity to deal with important world issues such as child labour and the plight of Afghani women. Miss Elizabeth, on the other hand, is a classically-minded tyrant who constantly wins a national, top-drawer dance competition because she always sticks to what is tasteful and traditional. The plotting is more than predictable, but the acting is so intensely perfect that, were you a little bit dotty, you might actually believe you were watching a real documentary. An especial standout is  as the queen of all stage mothers, while fans of Strictly Ballroom will be delighted to see its stars  and appear in small roles.
